NOAC Board Position Descriptions

  1. Board Chair serves as leader of the NOAC and is responsible for all actions and activities of the Board, committees, and event teams.
  2. Board Vice-Chair is chairperson of the Communications Committee, and is responsible for creating and managing systems of communication that provide the necessary and desirable means of communication within the NOAC, including newsletter, database, website, prayer coordinator, and other systems as are identified worthy of attention. The Vice-Chairperson of the NOAC Board shall serve as chair of the Communications Committee and will work with the Lay Chair and the Clergy Chair of each Ministry Area to choose a member from their specific Ministry Area to serve on the committee to gather information (articles, etc.) for inclusion in communications to the community members. The committee will select appropriately skilled community members to serve in the required positions for these communication tools to be effective. These skilled positions are not restricted to the three-year rotation.
  3. Past Board Chair chairs the Send-Off/Candlelight Committee for all Emmaus events. Identifies and/or recruits persons responsible for various activities during these events. Works with a committee member chosen within each of the three ministry areas.
  4. Secretary: Records minutes of the Board, transcribes the notes, distributes to board members within one (1) week of the meeting. Makes additions and corrections as determined appropriate from board member responses. Reads NOAC g-mail account daily, forwarding information to appropriate NOAC board or committee member for response. Communicates within NOAC and with external partners/vendors as required by Board business.
  5. Treasurer: Manages all NOAC finances using approved financial procedures. Creates an annual budget for Board approval. Chairs NOAC Finance Committee who maintains Standing Rules for community financial business procedures. Reports to Board at regularly scheduled meetings on all financial transactions and on yearly expenses compared to the approved budget.
  6. Team Selection Chairperson: The Team Selection Committee is responsible for selecting the team members for each Emmaus Ministry event and ensures the selection process follows the guidelines and requirements as specified in materials from The Upper Room and the International Emmaus Ministries Office. The Team Selection chair works with the Lay Chair and Clergy Chair of each Ministry Area to choose a member from their specific Ministry Area to serve on the committee.
  7. Fourth Day Chairperson: The Fourth Day Committee is responsible for working with Reunion/Accountability Groups and other local groups to help Emmaus event participants stay connected as a common faith community and in small support groups for mutual encouragement, guidance, and accountability The Fourth Day Committee chair works with the Lay Chair and Clergy Chair of each Ministry Area to choose a member from their specific Ministry Area to serve on the committee.
  8. Agape Chairperson: The Agape Committee is responsible for ensuring agape is present and available for each Emmaus Ministries event (Walk, Flight, Encounter, Journey, etc.) as well as connecting with other 4th Day Communities, nationally and internationally, to share General Agape letters around the world. This committee is also in charge of ensuring sufficient participation in the Prayer Vigil for each event and producing materials to promote and display that participation. The Agape Committee chairperson works with the Lay Chair and Clergy Chair of each Ministry Area to choose a member from their specific Ministry Area to serve on the committee.
  9. Walk to Emmaus Ministry Area Lay Chairperson serves as leader of the Walk to Emmaus events for the NOAC and is responsible for every aspect of those retreats including organization, planning, training, monitoring, evaluation, covenant with Upper Room guidelines, and improvement.
  10. Chrysalis Flight Ministry Area Lay Chairperson serves as leader of the Chrysalis Flight events for the NOAC and is responsible for every aspect of those retreats including organization, planning, training, monitoring, evaluation, covenant with Upper Room guidelines, and improvement.
  11. Face to Face Encounter Ministry Area Lay Chairperson serves as leader of the Face to Face Encounter events for the NOAC and is responsible for every aspect of those retreats including organization, planning, training, monitoring, evaluation, covenant with Upper Room guidelines, and improvement.
  12. Walk to Emmaus Ministry Area Spiritual Chairperson serves as pastoral leader of the Walk to Emmaus events for the NOAC and is responsible for working alongside the Lay Chairperson in every phase of the program. Additionally, the Spiritual Chairperson is the key figure in recruiting, training, and providing opportunities for progressive servanthood for pastors of many denominations to serve on Walk to Emmaus teams.
  13. Chrysalis Flight Ministry Area Spiritual Chairperson serves as pastoral leader of the Chrysalis flight events for the NOAC and is responsible for working alongside the Lay Chairperson in every phase of the program. Additionally, the Spiritual Chairperson is the key figure in recruiting, training, and providing opportunities for progressive servanthood for pastors of many denominations to serve on Walk to Chrysalis Flight teams.
  14. Face to Face Encounter Ministry Area Spiritual Chairperson serves as pastoral leader of the Face to Face Encounter events for the NOAC and is responsible for working alongside the Lay Chairperson in every phase of the program. Additionally, the Spiritual Chairperson is the key figure in recruiting, training, and providing opportunities for progressive servanthood for pastors of many denominations to serve on Face to Face Encounter teams.
