Letter from our new 2018 chair

posted Jan 25, 2018, 3:12 PM by Noahs Emmaus

Emmaus Community

Happy New Year Brothers and Sisters. As we begin 2018, may we seek to please our Lord in everything we do. The first meeting of the Board of Directors occurred on this past Saturday and it was a lovely experience for all present.

The Board has approved multiple appointments, some of which are yet to be confirmed, but those that have been affirmed and approved are as follows:

Ken Pearson will serve as the Treasurer of the Noah's of Ark Walk to Emmaus.

Marilyn Hockaday will serve as the Secretary for the Noah's of Ark Walk to Emmaus

Jo Bowie and Sherry Shearer will serve as the web site manager/database manger and communication specialist.

Wade Townsend has been appointed to fill a vacancy on the Board and likewise will be serving as the Chair of the Team Selection Committee.

The Team Selection Committee will have three additions: Rick Gartner, Tim Staley and Linda Rimele or Tia Dunn, whichever is available and willing to serve.

Mary Ann Harper has agreed to assume the role vacated by Nancy Scott as the Prayer Coordinator. Please be patient with her as we educate her on the process and mechanics

Brenda Purifoy and Jo Bowie will be responsible for Chrysalis for the next year. Both of these wonderful ladies have worked the recent Flight and are excited about the newfound desires among the young women of our multiple churches. They are seriously discussing the possibility of having a boy's flight during the "dead week" for athletics, sometime in late June or early July.

Other members of the Board have assumed specific responsibilities and are more than willing to serve this year. We are all anxiously waiting the arrival of the new "guidelines" that are in a bound volume and on the way to us.

Please continue to pray for the upcoming Walks and please apply the work where you can. As we move forward in 2018, let us rejoice in our willing servanthood to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. May His grace bless you and keep you In His Grip.

2017 Board Chair End of Year Letter

posted Jan 1, 2018, 3:27 PM by Noahs Emmaus

To:       The Noahs of Ark Community
From:  Carolyn Gray, 2017 NOA Board Chair

This year it has been an honor to lead a Board and Community that serves to build leaders in our churches and bring the pilgrims and caterpillars into a closer relationship with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. In 2017, our community has hosted 4 Walks and 2 Encounters with 186 men and women experiencing God’s love in a new and powerful way.  Two Chrysalis Flights have been scheduled for 2018.

The 2017 Board was a blessing to me and the Emmaus Community.  I want to thank the Board of Directors for their hard work this year and the Community for their support as we worked to return to following the Upper Room Guidelines.

On behalf of the Noahs Of Ark Community, I thank the outgoing members of the Board for their service with a special thanks to Ken Payne who has served as Treasurer of the NOA Community for the last five years.

Serving a ministry that is so dear to my heart was important to me this year.  I have read and reread Emmaus manuals and found there is so much to learn that it can be overwhelming.  In October I attended the Emmaus Upper Room International Advisory Board in Nashville where I learned there will be new Emmaus materials in January 2018 so I will be reading again.  I will continue to serve Emmaus as an ex-officio member of the Board in 2018 and as the Community Lay Director which involves coordinating the Candlelight programs.
There are so many people I have discovered this year who lovingly give so much to their church and Noahs of Ark.  God must be smiling down as the Noahs of Ark Community shows His love and grace to others in so many different ways.

On a personal note, Bart and I will always support and serve Emmaus where we are needed, but it is time to also spend some time traveling and with our family.  I am so grateful to my husband who was always there whenever I needed support, advice, or assistance this year.

I am excited to discover what the 2018 Board of Directors will accomplish for the community under the leadership of Chris Walthall.

Thank you for allowing me to serve and remember Christ is Counting on YOU!

Rejoice! Rejoice! Rejoice!

Walk #184 is GOING TO HAPPEN!!

Due to our NOAC family's obedience and response to the
Alert message and God's provisions and faithfulness we are
excited to share with you that the number of Pilgrim''s will
be sufficient to proceed with the plans for Women's Walk #184!

As always, our Community rallied  together in support of the
needs of our wonderful NOAC family! May God pour out
His favor on each of you as you have supported, prayed,
and listened to His call!

We are "15 days" away from Women''s Walk #184 and to date we
have only 18 Pilgrims signed up.
These numbers are a shaky 18 because 2 are carryovers from a
previous walk that didn't attend.
We have been told there are two more applications in the mail.
Even with those we could still end up with only 18!
Please be advised we are required to have 20 Pilgrims to have a Walk!
If you know someone that is contemplating going on the Walk,
then please contact Shari Coston at
501-282-7824  or email:  sharicoston@gmail.com  IMMEDIATELY!!
Pilgrim and Sponsor Applications with the Pilgrim walk fee is
required to be in two weeks prior to the Walk! We are down to
the count and, Emmaus Family, this is crucial that we get these
Pilgrims signed up NOW so that Walk #184 can happen!!!

Also, Men's Walk #185 have only 10 Pilgrims signed up with 5 names
being carried over from previous walks and need to be confirmed
that they will attend!
The Men's Walk numbers are are of great concern!
Please get those names in ASAP!

We have the two Lay Directors that have put their time/effort,
heart and much prayer putting together God's Walks! The
Women's Walk have had their practices and the Men's Walk
will soon do likewise!

We all know God has the Big Plan, but He calls us to do our part!
It''s time for each of us to be in fervent PRAYER, PRAYER, PRAYER!
Let's rise up to this challenge with Faith, Action, and Perseverance to
make this happen for not only the Pilgrims but for the Glory of God!

Cancellation of May 2017 Women's Walk

posted Feb 22, 2017, 5:18 PM by Noahs Emmaus   [ updated Feb 22, 2017, 5:23 PM ]

Through much thought, prayer and discussion, the May Women''s Walk for 2017 is officially cancelled. This decision was made only after meeting with Deb Ross, the Lay Director for that Walk, who was in total agreement. The Walk numbers will be adjusted and Deb will be placed back onto the list of candidates for a future Walk.

We still have Walks in March and April and both Walks have 20 or fewer Pilgrims at this time. Let us all be in prayer for Pilgrims we should be sponsoring.

Dear Emmaus Community:
Serving the Noahs of Ark Community as the 2017 Board of Di-rectors Chair is an honor. I am very grateful and excited to have the op-portunity to serve the NOA Community --- a Community of programs and Christian members that have touched my life and mean so much to me.
We all have our Emmaus Pilgrim Walk stories. Mine started on Walk #76 where I became aware of how much God loved me. While working on Emmaus Walks, Chrysalis Flights, Face to Face Encounters in the conference room, or on an outside team, I can always feel His love for the pilgrims and the team and I see the Holy Spirit all around.
Our Board and Committees are off to a busy and deter-mined start. Please go to the website www.noahsofark.org under the Board section and learn who are on the Board.  These are people you may contact with any questions or input you may have for our NOA community.  Also, check out the people serving as Committee Chairs who would appreciate your ideas and input.
The Noahs of Ark Community Newsletter is finally a reality.  We are grateful to Dale Clancy (Walk 129), who has volunteered to be our Newsletter Editor. He serves as the chaplain for the Good Samaritan Society in Hot Springs Village. He and his wife Shella live in Hot Springs Village.
On July 8, 2017, the Noahs of Ark Community will be having both the Laity and Clergy Emmaus Regional Leaders coming to Little Rock for a Leadership Development Training. Last year we had the Up-per Room Leaders for our Chrysalis and Face to Face programs. This year we will have the Walk to Emmaus Training for the Board of Direc-tors, Spiritual Directors and anyone in the Emmaus Community who is interested in attending. Put it on your calendar today.
We are working hard to do what God wants us to do in the No-ahs of Ark Community. I am asking for your prayers for God’s wisdom and will to be given to the Noahs of Ark Board as we work to grow all our programs. Please pray so that we might help build leadership in our churches, as well as provide a place for pilgrims to obtain a closer and more personal relationship with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.
Feel free to call or email me anytime if you have questions or suggestions.

End of Year Letter from Board Chair

posted Dec 30, 2013, 10:35 AM by Noahs Emmaus

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus,

Greetings and Happy New Year!  I trust each of you celebrated the birth of our Savior surrounded with family and friends!

As 2013 comes to an end, I reflect on the goodness of God throughout our Emmaus Community. We, as a community and Board, experienced many challenges, blessings, and oppositions.  Changes came quickly this year as did some struggles, but your Board stood firm together and we persevered, stood firm in our faith and trusted that God would do what God does best, take care of all things.  The four walks were awesome as all walks are and Jehovah Jirah provided all that we needed and blessed us with more of His abundance.

You and I experienced His grace in a fresh, new way, and now we move forward to 2014 knowing that God truly blessed 2013 and will continue to bless us as a community of faithful believers ready and willing to be obedient servants and stewards as He calls us.  Our scheduled walks are rising to a level of such excitement that it’s becoming difficult not to anticipate.  I urge each you that if you have not signed up to work one of these walks, please go to our website and put your name in to work.  This is a blessing you will not want to miss. Again, the walk fee has been decreased to $160 for team members and pilgrims.

I want to give God praise for providing such a powerful Board in 2013, as they assisted me with such wisdom, discernment, and tackling the tasks that were given to each of us.  Your Board never wavered but sought God’s direction for each and every decision that was made. To God be the glory.  Your Board thanks you for your support, your prayers, and your love for this year. Just knowing your were there giving of yourselves with these things only made us stronger and more determined to make our Community stronger than ever before.

I have been so abundantly blessed as being your Chairman for 2013 and it has humbled me knowing that God gives His direction and we just follow Him.  I look forward with extreme excitement to see what God has for us as a Community. We move forward knowing we have the abounding grace of God!

The elections are over and these names will serve with our new Chairman of the Board, Kathy McLeod.  Charlie Owen (Central), Cheryl Allen (Northeast), Paul Butler (Northwest), Burt Ragland (Southeast), and Dianne Schoemaker (Southwest).  Please continue to pray for your Board and as they lead us into a new year!

I pray special blessings over each of you that as God leads us to serve Him we will continue to be sensitive to His calling and be His obedient servants!

Happy New Year and may you each receive abundant blessings from our Heavenly Father!

            Your brother in Christ,

            Charles Scott
